Let's come together and bring in the Christmas cheer with a bang at the launch of Winterval 2022! Join us for Winterval’s first Christmas parade featuring highlight of the festival, including the Gerbola Circus, City of Waterford Brass, the cast of Waterford Panto’s ‘Jack & The Beanstalk’, the new Winterval Mini Express Train, visitors from The North Pole, some of the big man’s naughtiest elves, Mrs Claus and of course, Santa Claus himself! Then Santa might even join in with the singing and dancing on stage before he turns on the Christmas lights and officially launches Winterval 2022!

The parade begins at the clock Tower at 5:15pm, travels up through Barronstrand Street and John Roberts Square, continuing through Broad Street and finishing at the top of Michael Street at 5:45pm. Santa will then take to the stage to open the festival, alongside the Mayor of Waterford Cllr. John O'Leary, and illuminate Winterval by turning on the Christmas lights in Waterford!

The magic and entertainment then burst into action across the evening with the opening of the City Fairground and Winterval on Ice, the first Christmas Circus show at 6:30pm on New Street,  the first Winterval Illuminates light shows in its new location of Arundel Square from 7pm, and the main stage at the Winterval Food & Craft Market on O'Connell Street plays in until 10pm.  The entertainment then continues on in to the wee hours across Waterford’s busy bars and restaurants right around the city.

Main Stage Music Following Launch Event

Following the launch event, Brass and Co. will be playing the Winterval Main Stage at 6pm with Brand New Cadillac playing us out from 8 till 10.
