Meander through Winterval's magic mirrors and snap a selfie of your reflection as you're transported through iconic European cityscapes.

A place for buying and selling fruit and vegetables in the 18th century, today the Apple Market is at the heart of Waterford’s entertainment district and is home to some of the city’s best bars and restaurants. The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)has supported the transformation of the historic Apple Market into a contemporary urban quarter.

Covering the sites is the centrepiece of the regeneration – a 9m-high triangular glass and steel canopy, part of which was made using a locally developed reflective material to create a mirrored ceiling effect. Perched on top of nine steel columns the canopy has created a covered outdoor space that visitors can enjoy at all times of the day, whatever the weather.

The Southern Regional Assembly, based in Waterford, manages the ERDF S&E Regional Programme 2014-20 which supported the Apple Market regeneration, were key players in securing this funding, and so our Winterval Hall of Mirrors is a thank you to them and the EU. Our theme for the hall is "EU In My Region".
